On 1 July 2026, Victoria is expected to become the first Australian jurisdiction to restrict Non- Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in workplace sexual harassment cases.  An NDA in a sexual harassment settlement will only be valid if the worker who made the complaint requests it, has been given a mandatory information statement, and has had a 21-day review period to seek advice. The JobWatch report published in 2023 in conjunction with RMIT University and the University of Wollongong, Overwhelmed and Frustrated: Experiences of workplace sexual harassment and discrimination documented the experiences of workers under the old system. JobWatch contributed to the Victorian Government’s 2024 consultation on this reform, drawing on the research report: Source: JobWatch Newsletter 5 June 2026

13 October 2025: New Workplace Bullying and Sexual Harassment Protections begin for more than 400,000 workers in NSW, Australia

For the first time in NSW history, more than 400,000 NSW Government workers in hospitals, schools, local councils and other public services can today seek orders and damages from the NSW Industrial Relations Commission to stop workplace bullying and sexual harassment. Remedies can include an order to prevent the bullying and harassment from continuing, damages of up to $100,000, ordering a public apology to a harassed or bullied worker, or ordering an employer to take specified actions to stop unlawful conduct........Read More

11-12 September 2025: IAWBH Master Classes 

Our IAWBH Masterclass 2025, Global contextualizing of workplace bullying: Asia and Africa in focus, was held online on 11-12 September 2025. The Masterclass addressed the issue of context, with a specific focus on the Global South, and particularly Asia and Africa. The Masterclass was purpose-designed for an international community of workplace bullying researchers and practitioners who are interested in context, the Global South, Asia and/or Africa. We learned about context from local voices, including speakers from Asia (Miwako Wakui, Mahshid Bagestani, Emad Al Muala, Saima Ahmad, Joon Park) and Africa (Ngao Motsei, Amarachi Amaugo, Mary Naana Essiaw, Brightness Mangalothi), from the Masterclass organizers (Premilla D’Cruz, Ernesto Noronha) and eminent experts such as Charlotte Rayner, Hazel Mawdsley and Jose-Maria Leon Perez. The Masterclass' take-aways included learnings about context in terms of conceptualization methods and local insights, which attendees can apply in their own settings. The IAWBH Board met in Copenhagen from 23-24 July 2025 ahead of the 85th Academy of Management (AOM) meeting. It was a productive two days of work including discussion about the 15th biennial global conference of the IAWBH scheduled to be held at the Australian National University in Canberra from 206 June 2025.
