OTHER News1 July 2026: New Victorian law changes the operation of NDAs in sexual harassment casesOn 1 July 2026, Victoria is expected to become the first Australian jurisdiction to restrict Non- Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in workplace sexual harassment cases. An NDA in a sexual harassment settlement will only be valid if the worker who made the complaint requests it, has been given a mandatory information statement, and has had a 21-day review period to seek advice. The JobWatch report published in 2023 in conjunction with RMIT University and the University of Wollongong, Overwhelmed and Frustrated: Experiences of workplace sexual harassment and discrimination documented the experiences of workers under the old system. Remedies can include an order to prevent the bullying and harassment from continuing, damages of up to $100,000, ordering a public apology to a harassed or bullied worker, or ordering an employer to take specified actions to stop unlawful conduct........Read More11-12 September 2025 (ONLINE): IAWBH Master Classes Global Contextualizing of Workplace Bullying:Asia & Africa in Focus Our IAWBH complimentary Masterclass 2025 'Global contextualizing of workplace bullying: Asia and Africa in Focus' was held online from 11-12 September 2025. The Masterclass addressed the issue of context, with a specific focus on the Global South, particularly Asia and Africa. The Masterclass was designed for the international community of workplace bullying researchers and practitioners who are interested in context, the Global South, Asia and/or Africa. We heard from the local voices of Asia, including Miwako Wakui, Mahshid Bagestani, Emad Al Muala, Saima Ahmad, Joon Park, and of Africa including Ngao Motsei, Amarachi Amaugo, Mary Naana Essiaw, Brightness Mangalothi, as well as from the organizers Premilla D’Cruz and Ernesto Noronha from India and global experts such as Charlotte Rayner, Hazel Mawdsley, and Jose-Maria Leon Perez. We also heard from Ira Postolachi, a Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination expert from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva. It was a productive two days of work including discussion about the 15th biennial global conference of the IAWBH scheduled to be held at the Australian National University in Canberra from 206 June 2025.

It was inspiring to hear from our esteemed colleagues, Professors Stale Valatne Einarsen and Eva Gemzoe Mikkelson and also from the team from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) as well as researchers and practitioners from across the globe. A huge thank you in particular to Stale and Eva, to the ILO team, and to Dr Frances McGregor and her team for putting together an unforgettable and stimulating event which provided a great opportunity to network and to hear from so many researchers and practitioners.
